Mistaken Identity

It was a fatal mistake to attempt the mountain pass.
Now he couldn’t see the road through his icy windshield glass.
Then when he killed his engine, terror filled his stricken heart.
Next his battery went dead and his engine wouldn’t start.

Once, he had been a Christian so he knew how he should pray.
But would God still hear his prayer? Would he help him out today?
He had told God in his youth that he had no time for prayer.
If he ever needed God, he would let him know up there.

They found him two days later, by his truck, down on his knees.
In this kind of a blizzard even alcohol would freeze.
Before his God in Heaven, there’s a question he would ask,
“Why didn’t you start my truck? Was it too much of a task?”

God said, ”I had a problem, you know that I’m always fair.
I acted very quickly when I heard your urgent prayer.
But your voice had changed so much since last time you talked to me.
I started another truck, for some guy in Tennessee.”
