A scientist, who was of world renown,
Happened to meet God one recent day.
“You know Mr. God,” the scientist said,
“Knowledge has come a very long way.
We have to admit that you did it first
That all living things were made by you.
But we have no need of you any more
‘Cause all that you did, we can do.”
Then God, with a smile, knelt down on his knee
And he picked up a hand full of dust.
“With this I made you. If you would be God,
Then creation of life is a must.”
“A handful of soil is all that I need,”
Said the scientist then, with a grin,
“The knowledge of man has gotten so great
In a contest I know we would win.”
God just smiled, though the arrogance of man
Was certainly a source of much hurt,
“If you think that you can, then create some life;
But first you must make your own dirt.”
