No Help Needed

The meeting was important.
He had driven twice around.
He needed a parking space,
There wasn’t one to be found.

He began to pray out loud,
“Lord, find me a parking space
And I’ll give up my drinking,
And spend Sundays at your place.”

But God wasn’t hearing him,
It was just as he had feared.
Too many others searching,
Then like magic one appeared

Now he would make his meeting
And he wouldn’t have to run!
He said, “Just forget it God,
Because I just found me one!”

How many times has God answered one of your prayers, only to have the credit given to someone or something else? In No Help Needed, the guy surely wasn’t going to give the credit to God, because then he would have to keep his promise.

This type of promise is called a “Fox Hole Promise”. I’m sure the reason why is apparent. You hear of promises that were made in life or death situations being kept, and lives being changed as a result. Of course you never hear of the ones not kept.
